Stiff medicine belt made from animal hide [possibly cattle] which tapers from the centre to the ends. There are four squares of blue beads and ostrich eggshell sewn at intervals. This would have been worn by a woman to treat sickness of the abdomen, with the exception of pregnant women according to original cataloguing information.[FHM29/07/2019]
Head decoration made from aloe fibres attached to a stick, worn vertically at the hair. Worn by female initiates during the Efendula ceremony on the night of their return from the period of liberty in the bush. The Efendula ceremony by which young Kwaynama women celebrated the transition to marriageable age. [FHM27/06/2019]
Toy rifle made from a banana leaf 'stalk'. A long strip has been detached from the main stalk, bar each end, to form a shoulder strap. Small slats have been made along the 'gun', so that when one's hand is drawn quickly across them a popping sound [i.e. gun fire] is achieved. According to previous cataloguing information, this was collected from the Umbundu people and would have been owned by a girl.[FHM25/09/2019]
Double pronged hair pin, made from brass decorated with incised, geometric designs. Two tapering, flat brass prongs, joined at the top by a loop of brass. [FHM27/07/2019]
Yoyo top [also known as kamuchaila] made from dried gourd, bamboo and string. Gourd discs threaded on a stalk, this encased in a reed with hole in centre through which passes the string attached to a central stalk. Pull string and hold outer reed casing, stalk rotates with umbrella like gourd at top. This specimen has additional discs of thick gourd - one at base of stalk and a second above the original disc at top. According to previous cataloguing information, this toy would have been made and used by young boys of the Umbundu people.[FHM25/09/2019]

Woman's piped shaped snuff box made from wood wrapped with brass metal bands for decoration. The top is covered in copper and a brass cartridge at the tip at the other end. there is a leather thong bearing a small wooden stopper. [FHM29/07/2019]
Woman's forehead band of red and white beads, threaded onto fibre string. Rings of fibre bound cattle hair decorate the headband at regular intervals. These rings each sport two tufts of hair.[FHM27/07/2019]
Spear with a narrow leaf shaped blade, attached to a long wooden shaft. The shaft it decorated with a carved snake, which twines upwards towards the blade. This would have been featured in the costume of a circumcised man, dressed as a 'spirit' for the circumcision camp. [FHM27/07/2019]
Axe with angled wooden shaft and a wedge shaped blade [perhaps iron] which has been slightly decorated with impressed line markings. The blade is attached by the means of a long tang which has been bent into the wood to secure it in place. Used for ritual purposes as part of an initiation costume. [FHM27/07/2019]
Hairpin or scratcher made of wood with incised design. Decoration on head of hairpin, which is formed by a rectangle of wood, with two of the sides being concave. Pointed at the end, for insertion into hair. [FHM27/07/2019]
