Tshepo Skwambane is cultural specialist and community activist based in Worthing (UK). Born in South Africa, Tshepo developed strong interests in culture and heritage. He is also a practising musician who, on his move to the UK in the 1980s, worked in the music industry, supporting South African artists and musicians.
Since 2015 he has worked with staff at Brighton Museum on developing knowledge and understanding of the Museum’s holdings from southern Africa. In 2018 he curated the display Township Journeys and he is currently working with staff at Brighton Museum and at the Khama III Memorial Museum on the Making African Connections project. Tshepo has been asked to talk about his museum work by various organisations, including the UK’s Museums Association and National Lottery Heritage Fund.
A committed social activist, Tshepo is also the founder and director of Worthing-based organisations Diverse Community Empowerment Services (DCES) and Diverse Bridge CIC.
