Sadiq al-Mahdi served as the Prime Minister of Sudan from 1966 until 1967 and then again from 1986 until 1989 when his government was overthrown in a coup. He was head of the National Umma Party who opposed the government led by Omar al-Bashir. Sadiq al-Mahdi was also Imam of the Ansar. [Nsty 08/12/2020]
In this video you can hear him talk about the need to revisit the complex colonial legacy. He also discusses the role of Sayyid Abd al-Rahman al-Mahdi (his grandfather and the Mahdi's son) in the development of Sudan as a nation. [Nsty 08/12/2020]
