Description

Tall doll kept by families to promote fertility. Forked stick forms the torso and legs. Torso, arms and head moulded from beeswax. Turquoise trade bead neck roll. Seeds pressed into wax for hair. Ostrich eggshell eyes. Stomach skin apron [etata]; long, black cattle skin back skirt - edged with iron beads [oputo]. Thick hide belt around waist. The entire doll is quite heavily covered in lukula [red powder].[FHM18/06/2019]
