Typed Rolliflex list: R10-6 Kanguli chief (full face)
Kanguli was an Angolan Soba who the Powell-Cotton sisters stayed with from the 19th to the 22nd of April 1936 and visited again in 1937, arriving on the 25th of May. They described him as 'old' and said he had three wives. While staying with him they collected many objects and much information. He helped them collect objects and also introduced them to Soba Tchiliwandele, a relative. Diana Powell-Cotton's diary lists the area as 'Mungu district' and the 1930s map marks the location as in Benguela province near to the boundary with Huila province, this area is now Huila.
